Kite-surf Zeebrugge

Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert Type: Ocean Water type: Chop, Small wave, Medium wave Water hazards: Mole Water quality: Cloudy Infos: Sometimes choppy with North Wind (N, NW, NE). No waves, only with strong wind (7 Bft), but really choppy with 5-6 Bft. Tides. Beach type & size: Sand - Big Infos: Clean, good sand, shells. Very big beach, with plenty space to launch and land kite and to landboard. Not too crowded during summer. There is a kite zone, specially for launching and landing a kite. Weather specificities: In the summer 20-30C, water 20C. In the winter 0-15C, water 10C. Wetsuit is necessary most of the time. The season is from about March to November. Off-season possible, but with thick wetsuit, gloves and shoes. Wind type: Frontal Wind specificities: Mostly around 4 Beaufort. With depressions any strength of wind possible, mainly from autumn to spring. During the season 3-6 Bft. Best direction is West, the wind mainly blows from West, Northwest and North. Best months: March, April, May, September, October, November Access description: by Car - From Brussels (Zaventem) drive to Gent(A10/E40), than Bruges. At Bruges (Brugge) you leave the freeway. Than you follow Blankenberge, at Blankenberge you go right and follow signs to Knokke-Heist. At the way you will find Zeebrugge, you have to go left at Zeebrugge-Bad, take the 1st street left, till the end of the street and go right then left again and at the end of the street is the surf club. Specific rules: Zones Extra: A kite leash is obligatory. There are zones for surfers and swimmers. Please respect them! In high season the lifeguards will 'kick' you out of the swim zone if you get in, listen to these guys. More info: go to the surfclub on the beach.
