Description

Level: Intermediate, Expert Type: Lagoon Water type: Shallow, Flat, Chop Water hazards: Ships, Jetskis, Bridge, Stakes Water quality: Cloudy Infos: Flat to choppy water. Be careful with a bulk head south of the launch. Out in the open water you are in the main channel of the Inter-Coastal Waterway. Downwind of the launch if you break down, there are two very small ways out, otherwise it's all bulk heading and the bridge. The main riding area is very small and can hold 4 to 5 kites max without everyone getting cock blocked. Keep your car locked. Keep an eye on your stuff on the beach. Very protective locals, so ride within local rules. Beach type & size: Sand - Small Infos: Small, sandy beach. Launch off the north end of the beach, not the main part. The south part of the bay is private property, so don't come even close to it. With a side-on launch, don't screw up, or its through the bushes, through the volleyball nets, into the fence then into the street, power lines and houses. Identified hazards: Trees, Bystanders, Road, Cars, Power lines, None Beachgoer: June, July, August Weather specificities: Nice and warm during summer. Fall and spring needs a long wetsuit, during winter a thick wetsuit. Wind type: Thermal, Frontal Wind specificities: During summer the SW wind blows, which is offshore here. Fall to spring mainly NE winds with cold fronts, which works best here. Best months: May, June, July, August, September Access description: by Car - From Garden State Pkwy take 37 and drive eastwards. Before crossing the bay exit onto 571 (Fischer Blvd) and drive north until you get to Bay Ave. Here turn right and follow the road to the water. Here you can park. Rig your gear to the north end of the beach. Specific rules: Zones, Time Extra: Closed for kitesurfing Memorial Day to Labour Day. The south part of the bay is private property, so don't come even close to it, therefore not recommended to beginners in a NE wind. You must be able to stay upwind with confidence.
