Waves mature further downwind of the jetty. Riding inside the jetty is not recommended (small; boat traffic; rocky breakwall) Beach type & size: Sand - Big Infos: Very crowded beach during hot summer days, especially weekends. Always plenty of room to rig and launch, but use extreme caution moving to the water near beachgoers. Erosion fences will be present during the colder months. Buggy riding possible (but rare). Long sandy shoreline for miles in both directions, but beware sharp dune grass will puncture kites. Identified hazards: Bystanders, Fence Beachgoer: June, July, August, September Wind type: Frontal Best months: March, April, May, September, October, November Access description: by Car - Parking lot will fill around noon and cause a traffic back-up for a long way inland. Specific rules: Zones, Fees Extra: Swim zone buoys installed May to September. State Park requires vehicles to have a Michigan Recreation Passport (sticker) to enter.
