Description
Level: Intermediate, Expert
Type: Ocean
Water type: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Medium wave
Water hazards: Reefs
Infos: Varies from flattish at low water between the reefs to an excellent wave (4ft and upwards) spot. There are two reefs. It is possible to sail between the reefs at low water - but at mid-high water they are covered up. On an ebb tide be careful as the reefs become exposed.
Beach type & size: Sand - Tidal
Infos: Nice sandy beach, very little debris. Restricted space at high water. Can get very busy in the summer with beach goers, so please take care.
Beachgoer: July, August
Weather specificities: Usual UK weather, ie variable. Wetsuit necessary all year round, 5mm or drysuit in winter, 3mm in height of summer.
Wind specificities: Very good wind spot. Always seems to pick up the wind more than anywhere else in Northumberland. Best directions are N, NE and S. Does also work in a SSW and just about in a SW but these are both quite gusty. For SE or E, head to the south end of Beadnell (of Links House).
Access description: by Car - You have to drive. Take the B1340 or B1341 off the A1, or just follow the signs for Seahouses or Beadnell. There's a car park in Beadnell right on the beach. Best launch spot is a short walk south.
Extra: No restrictions - just be careful of bathers and beach goers in the summer.
Nightlife: Couple of nice pubs in Beadnell.
Accommodations: Shower, Toilet, Food, Parking
