Óbuda Obuda

Paragliding map of
Hármashatárhegy, Óbuda, Hungary Elevation: 430 meters Height Difference: 300 meters This site is frequently used and offers good thermal soaring conditions, making it suitable for cross-country flights. The region has a site record of 125.1 km. Important: Do not fly higher than 750 meters due to the Budapest CTR. Access: You can reach the takeoff area by car or taxi. Parking is available near the takeoff. Landing Zones: There are various landing zones available. Difficulty: ++ Restrictions: HHH TIZ, TMA Local Advice: - Local residents do not appreciate landings in their gardens. - Be cautious of police helicopters when gaining altitude. - The flight path from the takeoff crosses the MSE airport TIZ. - If you are not familiar with emergency landing spots among houses, do not take off. The dense power lines and hard house walls are extremely dangerous. - In stronger winds, beginners should glide to the left of the takeoff towards the 'ribizkés' landing zone, which is closer to the hillside. In case of drifting back, Virágosnyereg can be a good emergency landing spot. - On busy summer weekends, avoid practicing takeoffs to reduce stress for everyone. - Only experienced pilots who know air traffic rules and can control their gliders should fly on crowded days. Record: Simonics Peter/Sector L/Kaposvar - 165 km (August 1997) Additional Information: - Altitude: 450 meters AMSL - TMA Restriction: 750 meters AMSL (takeoff +300 meters) - Basic Rule: If you drop below the takeoff level in Óbuda, head towards the landing zone. - In tricky situations, if the wind is from the right, head towards Ribiszkés meadow; if from the left, aim for the right end of the landfill (large landing zone). - In case of emergency, prefer the waterworks area over the streets due to the risk of power lines. Takeoff: The takeoff direction is northeast, providing ample space for both paragliders and hang gliders. Cross-country flights towards the southwest, in the direction of Lake Balaton, are possible. The takeoff site is accessible year-round. Caution: The flying area is directly over Budapest and within the TMA Ferihegy. Therefore, you must not exceed 750 meters AMSL. If you do, you must immediately reduce altitude. Detailed information is available at the takeoff site.
