Mejvodnoe

Kite map of

Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert

Type: Ocean, Lake

Water type: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Small wave

Water hazards: Animals, None

Water quality: Clean

Infos: Clean shallow waters, for 50-100 meters from the beach it's knee deep. At the eastern part of the beach, away from kiteschools, water is much deeper at the beach. At the sea, away from shallow area, with wind around 12 knots it's pretty choppy. There is also bay that has knee deep flat water. Be cautious not to get stuck at the southern part of it, since the bottom of this bay there is silty. There might be stinging jellyfishes at the sea, not dangerous, just unpleasant.

Beach type & size: Grass, Sand - Medium

Infos: Beach is full of kitestations and schools. Beach consists of dense sand, grass and small seashells. Kite stations provide mats and sandbags for the kites. Sometimes storms bring lots of seaweed to the shore. Beach is not that wide, sometimes you gotta get into the water to launch your kite. This beach is for kiters only, so no swimmers, unless further to the east.

Identified hazards: None

Beachgoer: May, June, July, August, September

Weather specificities: Most of the summer season the temperature is around 25-30 C. Water is warm too, especially at the shallow areas. But there might be cold currents, especially in July, so get a wetsuit just in case.

Wind type: Thermal

Wind specificities: During May and June dominant wind might be NE. On July wind is less active, but there is always thermal western breeze around 8 knots, or even higher, so check the weather stations that are connected to the wind forecast apps. Wind picks up mostly after noon and dies at the sunset.

Best months: May, June, July, August, September

Access description: by Car - The only way to get there is by car or taxi. Nearest hotels are several kilometers away, so people prefer to use cars or to live in the camping tents next to the kite stations.

Specific rules: Fees

Extra: Because there are lot of kite stations you have to pay some fee to one of them in order to kite there, or go to the wilder eastern part, but beach is narrow there, and it has bushes and trees. But for the money you get chillout zone, away from the sun, wi-fi, parking mats for kites, racks for boards and harnesses, and many more. There are cafes to get some food. There is no certain place for all beginners, so they are very close to the shore for all length of it. Keep the distance from them or you'll get shouted at or even get into collision.

Nightlife: Didn't stay there for the night, but I'm pretty sure some kite stations throw some kind of beach parties and watch movies.
