Beach type & size: Sand - Tidal
Infos: The beach is clean, soft and hard sand. No obstacles downwind. If the tide is low you have a quite big beach but when it's high you have about 60m of beach (wide). Length of the kite zone is 350m. Always big enough except when the wind comes from the Northwest (onshore).
Weather specificities: In the winter something around 5C. Wetsuit, hood, gloves and boots required. In the summer the water temp. is 20-22C but you always need a wetsuit. The die-hards kite all year long, but the season is from April until about November. Water: summer (June to September) 17-20C, winter from 6C (January and February) to 17C (all other months). Air: summer 20-30C, winter -5-20C.

Wind specificities: Usually the wind comes from the SW or W which is best here. But not always as strong as wanted. February until April to May is windy by might be cold. In the summer you can have no wind all day or maybe a little breeze (10-14knts) from the NE. Fall and spring can give you up to 8-9 Bft, July is calmer with a regular 3-4 Bft, sometimes thermal breeze 5 Bft. August is pretty light most of the time.

Access description: by Car - E40 Brussels - Ostend. From the Airport follow Gent, then Brugge to Oostende. At the roundabout 3th exit. Drive until you hit the beach, go to the right for approx 1.5-2 miles. The surf-club is located under the boardwalk at the corner of that same boardwalk. Is other side of road of the main entrance to the horse-race track. Parking space is scarcely during summer-time. Other months no problem or you can park your car at the parking of Hotel "Thermae Palace". Drive on for 500m after the entrance of the horse-race track and turn in left onto the parking.

Infos: Big sandy beach, there's enough space for a lot of people to safely launch their kite. The sand is very soft, no rocks, no obstacles. Small shells can appear when low tide. There is a lot of space foreseen for water sports.

Access description: by Car - From Brussels: follow the E40 to Brugge, then follow the N41 to Zeebrugge, leave Zeebrugge at your left hand and continue direction Heist. When you arrive in Heist, search for the "Heldenplein" at your left hand situated near the beach. From the "Heldenplein" go left and within 50 meters you'll find the beach!

Access description: by Car, Train - Along the coast on N34 west of Oostende until you reach Middelkerke. Take the train to Ostend and take the Tram to Middelkerke.

Extra: Look out for the wave breakers every 300m. Powerkiting is allowed the whole year through, although coast guards might ask you to go to unsurveillanced parts of the beach during the summer if you fly without respecting the beach crowd and if you fly big stuff. Mountainboarding and Landbuggying is permitted before 10 in the morning and after 6 in the evening during the summer. Surfkiting is only permitted in the unsurveillanced zones during the summer. If you go during the summer, please respect the beach crowd and listen to the coastguards, if you're friendly with them, they will tolerate more.
Nightlife: Carre Casino (club, or something like that), Baranquilla (bar), Minim (cocktail bar). Most things open late are around the casino.

Access description: by Car - From Brussels (Zaventem) drive to Gent(A10/E40), than Bruges. At Bruges (Brugge) you leave the freeway. Than you follow Blankenberge, at Blankenberge you go right and follow signs to Knokke-Heist. At the way you will find Zeebrugge, you have to go left at Zeebrugge-Bad, take the 1st street left, till the end of the street and go right then left again and at the end of the street is the surf club.
