Located in Sylmar, CA, USA, this site is occasionally used and is more popular among hang gliders than paragliders. Cross-country flights are possible, but be aware of airspace restrictions and watch for helicopters crossing May Canyon. The launch site is at an elevation of 1133 meters with a height difference of 710 meters. It is regulated by the Sylmar Hang Gliding Association and is designated as a Hang 4 launch site. The site record is 98.4 km, which you can find more about here: [Site Record](https://www.shga.com/dangeroussiteinfo.asp). The launch faces southeast and is a semi-cliff launch. In westerly winds, it can be tricky as it often creates a rotor. Always check the wind from the south side of the ridge before launching. The designated landing zone is Kagel LZ. For more information, you can visit the Sylmar Hang Gliding Association's website: [SHGA](https://shga.com/) and [Kagel Flying Sites](https://shga.com/flyingSites/Kagel.htm).
