Surf Usami

Usami - Japan Usami features powerful, hollow left-hand reef waves breaking over a rocky bottom, ideal for experienced surfers. The spot is best surfed at mid tide with rising and falling tides, particularly when the swell comes from the southwest or south. Access requires a short 5-15 minute walk from a hidden entry point. This fickle surf spot is known for its local vibe, with the left side catering to locals and the right side attracting tourists. On good days, Usami can deliver exceptional 'A' frame waves, but it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Surfers are advised to respect the locals and avoid longboards on the left to prevent snaking. The atmosphere is relaxed, with an onsen nearby for post-surf recovery. Be cautious of rips, rocks, and localism, as conditions can become intense.
