Surf Thurso East

Thurso East - Scotland Thurso East is a world-class right-hand reef break characterized by hollow and powerful waves. The bottom consists of sharp rocks, making it essential for surfers to be cautious. This spot works at all tides and is best with swells from the North, Northwest, and Northeast. Access requires a short walk of 5-15 minutes. Located on the "Norse Shore," Thurso East is renowned for its challenging surf, particularly during autumn and winter when Arctic swells deliver optimal conditions. While the spot can attract a few surfers during the week, it’s advisable to be respectful of the locals, especially on weekends. Parking is available near the surf club, but care should be taken not to obstruct local farmers. Even in summer, a 4/3 wetsuit is recommended, with additional gear needed in colder months. Prepare for an intense experience, whether you’re riding or spectating.
