The Groins features a point break with both right and left waves over a sandy bottom, providing ordinary to fun power. This spot is best surfed at high tide, particularly during rising and falling tides. Be cautious of strong rips and undertows, making it suitable for experienced surfers only.
Located near the man-made rock jetties at Grays Harbor, The Groins is one of the more reliable surf spots on Washington's Pacific coast. Access is straightforward, just past Westhaven State Park, but parking can fill up quickly on good surf days. The waves can attract a crowd, especially on weekends, so patience is key. While the rides may be short, surfers can enjoy a mix of turns and the occasional barrel. Just remember to navigate the rocks carefully and use the rip to position yourself for the peak.
