Praia do Meco - Portugal Praia do Meco features a powerful beach break with hollow waves breaking both right and left over a sandy bottom. The spot is known for its tricky rips, especially when the swell fully develops, resembling the renowned Praia do Norte at Nazaré. It works best at low and mid tide with rising and falling tides. Accessing this gem involves a short walk (5-15 minutes) after navigating from Lisbon via the A2 highway towards Sesimbra. The beach is relatively uncrowded during the week and weekends, making it an ideal spot for surfers seeking solitude. Wind from the southeast, east, or northeast complements the northwest, west, and southwest swells, enhancing the wave quality. However, caution is advised due to the presence of rips and undertow, which can pose dangers for less experienced surfers.
