Description
La Chocolatera (Shit Bay) - Ecuador
La Chocolatera is a left-point break featuring fast waves over flat rocks. This world-class surf spot is located near Salinas and is accessible only by boat due to its proximity to a Navy base. It works at all tides, particularly during rising tide conditions, and is best surfed with a southwest swell.
Known for its challenging conditions, Shit Bay is primarily suited for experienced surfers. While it can be empty during weekdays, weekends may see a few surfers, especially when the swell is significant (7-8 feet). The spot is not very consistent, so patience is key to catching it at its best. Accessing the break requires a boat ride, but adventurous surfers can walk around the rocks at low tide. Be prepared for a unique atmosphere where quick take-offs are essential to avoid conflicts with other surfers.
