Description
Asbury Park - New Jersey
Asbury Park features a beach break with both right and left-hand waves over a sandy bottom. The spot offers ordinary to fun power, primarily working at mid tide during rising conditions. Access is instant, with public access available, although it is technically not allowed to surf here in the summer.
The atmosphere is characterized by a mix of run-down buildings and a desolate beachfront, providing a unique backdrop for surfers. While the area can be empty during the week and weekends, caution is advised due to man-made dangers and pollution. Nearby, Loch Arbour and Deal offer varied conditions and larger swells, but access can be limited due to private beaches. The local vibe can be challenging, especially at crowded peaks, but Asbury Park remains a fun and different surf spot worth exploring, particularly in the fall when the crowds are sparse.
