Hauptstart is a popular paragliding site located above Schiers, Switzerland. The launch site is easily accessible by car or bus via a road leading directly to the Mottisberghaus. The landing zone in Schiers is situated between the bypass road and the railway line.
The take-off area is a moderately steep meadow directly below the restaurant at Mottis. You can reach it by taking a post bus from Schiers to Mottis, followed by a short 2-minute walk. Please remember to pay the start/landing fee at the gate (2 CHF per flight or 20 CHF per year).
The site offers good cross-country flying opportunities and is regularly used by pilots. The launch window is typically in the morning, and the take-off direction is south. Be cautious, as the valley wind during landing can be very strong.
