Parapente Muriwai - Southern private ramp Janies

This site offers a unique coastal soaring experience but is located on private property at the end of Ngatira Rd. It is not open to the public, and access is restricted to members of the Auckland Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club. Flights from this site require you to achieve enough height to reach Muriwai Beach, as there is no bottom landing available. This is particularly important for hang gliders. The ideal wind direction for this site is South West. The club operates a weather station at Muriwai to help you plan your flights. Mandatory notices and access conditions must be followed strictly. The site radio channel is Channel 20 - 476.900MHz. Restrictions for flying at this site include: - Hang Gliding: Advanced level required. - Paragliding: PG2 with at least 60 hours of flight time. There have been concerns from a local resident about pilots overflying their property. Please avoid flying over the indicated property and treat the area in front of it as a transit zone, gaining height before and not lingering. The airspace restrictions are the same as for all sites at Muriwai. The site is located in VFR Transit Lane T156 with a height ceiling of 2000 feet A.S.L. Beyond the high water mark, the airspace is Class D Controlled Airspace and MBZ. Access to the site is controlled due to past issues with public access. The new owners have installed security gates and provided an access code for club members. The access code is available from the site monitor rather than being published online.
