Description
Located in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, this paragliding site is among the best in the region, regularly used with cross-country (XC) potential. The site is suitable for beginners and offers ample space for multiple gliders to launch and land safely. It is accessible by a small car, just 15 minutes from the city, making it an ideal spot for camping.
Thermal activity is prominent from March to October, with the best flying conditions in the morning from 10:00 to 14:00. Average thermal lifts range from 4-7 m/s. The highest altitude recorded was 3000m above sea level in August 2008 by Bruno Jovanovic, who flew a Firebird Hornet Sport over a distance of approximately 40km.
The site features two take-off points:
1. The SW-facing take-off is at 790m ASL. It is a rocky area with minimal grass, accommodating up to 3 gliders simultaneously. This spot is ideal for afternoon ridge and thermal soaring.
2. The E-facing take-off is best for morning flights, particularly from 11:00 to 13:00, utilizing the first thermals of the day. This location is suitable for XC flights towards Medjugorje, Brijeg, and Ljuboški.
The flying season starts at the end of February and lasts until the end of October. During the summer, particularly from late July to early August, the temperature gradient is low, resulting in fewer thermals but excellent conditions for afternoon soaring.
