Best Conditions
Description
The site has an elevation of 220 meters and a height difference of 60 meters. It is occasionally used for local soaring and as a training slope for southeast winds by the Gleitschirmzentrum Dresden. The slope is influenced by the lee effect of the forest edge when there is a west wind, so launching in west wind conditions is not allowed.
Region: Miera, Germany. The site record is 0.9 km.
At the launch site, there are information boards with details about the training slope. The optimal launch direction is southeast, which you can identify when the wind comes directly from the direction of the underlying bridge. Caution: Launching is prohibited when the wind is from the southwest to west due to the forest on the right, which creates dangerous rotors. Guest flights are only allowed with prior telephone registration.
