Located in the Interlaken region of Switzerland, this paragliding site offers a takeoff height of 970 meters. It is regularly used and provides some opportunities for cross-country flights. The site is particularly good for soaring in the afternoon and early evening. There is an alternative takeoff spot, which may depend on the use of the meadow by local farmers, so it's advisable to ask the locals for current information.
The takeoff area is a gently sloping grassy hill, ideal for both paragliders and hang gliders. The primary takeoff direction is south. To reach the takeoff point, you can take a post bus to Stapfen and then walk back along the main road to a curve in the forest, followed by a 10-minute walk on a footpath. If you have a private vehicle, you can drive to the curve in the forest, where limited parking is available, and then walk for about 3 minutes.
Be cautious of strong west winds, as they can create significant rotor turbulence at the takeoff site. If you notice an increase in west wind at the Lehn landing site or if you are looking for evening thermals, the Luegibrüggli area is a good alternative. The stunning panorama makes it even more enjoyable to increase your altitude actively. Soaring for hours in the evening is often possible here, with views of the majestic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks.

The main takeoff site is a steep meadow with a southern orientation and a medium difficulty level. It is situated at an altitude of 1060 meters and is accessible by a mountain railway. The coordinates are 7.80990579, 46.69096046, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk there from Beatenberg Holenweg, where you can arrive by post bus from Unterseen.
The flight starts from a clearing in the forest. When leaving the cover of the trees in stronger west winds, it initially remains surprisingly calm. However, turbulence can occur after passing the next forest nose on the right. It is recommended to fly straight towards the lake initially, which usually results in significant lift. This is the right moment to turn right and take advantage of the soaring ridge or thermals.
Active launching and flying are the best responses to light rotors, lee-side turbulence, and crosswinds.
