Description

The launch site is located at an altitude of 1066 meters and is frequently used. It offers good cross-country (XC) opportunities for hang gliders (HG) and some XC potential for paragliders (PG) with routes up to 50 km. The best soaring conditions are typically in the afternoon and early evening. Some pilots also launch from a lower spot under the road and tree line at around 970 meters—ask the locals for more details. Region: Interlaken, Switzerland. The site record is 53.1 km. More details can be found [here](https://www.paragliding365.com/index-p-flightarea_details_6281.html) and [here](http://www.deltaclub-interlaken.ch/Fluggebiet/Luegibrueggli/). The launch area is a gently sloping grassy hill, ideal for both paragliders and hang gliders. The take-off direction is south. To reach the site, take the Postbus to Stapfen, then walk back along the main road to the curve in the forest, and follow the footpath to the launch site, which takes about 10 minutes. If driving, you can park at the curve in the forest, but parking is limited. From there, it's a 3-minute walk to the launch site. Caution: Strong west winds can create significant rotor turbulence at the launch site. When the west wind picks up at the Lehn landing site or if you're looking for evening thermals, Luegibrüggli is a great option. The stunning panorama makes the experience even more enjoyable, and you can often soar for hours in the evening with views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Launch Site: - Orientation: South - Difficulty: Medium - Altitude: 1060 meters - Cable Car: Yes - Coordinates: 7.80990579, 46.69096046 - Walking Time: 10 minutes From Unterseen, take the Postauto to Beatenberg Holenweg, then walk to the launch site, which is a steep meadow. Flight: The launch is from a clearing in the forest. When leaving the cover of the trees in stronger west winds, it remains surprisingly calm at first. Be cautious: turbulence appears after the next forest edge on the right. Continue flying straight towards the lake, which usually results in significant lift. This is the right time to turn right and take advantage of the soaring ridge or thermals. Difficulty: Light rotors, lee-side turbulence, and crosswinds are best managed with active launching and flying techniques.
