The site is typically flown with a westerly wind, but recent studies and experiences suggest that a slight shift towards the south is also suitable. The site is flyable for most of the year, except during the growing season. During this time, launching in zero wind conditions may result in landing in the grass or crops of the farmer at Lysgård, which is not appreciated. Based on my experience, you can gain enough altitude to reach the driving range of Lillehammer Golf Club when the wind is favorable at launch. However, it is best to avoid flying during the growing season.
In December 2007, an informal agreement was made with Operations Manager Pedersen at the Olympic Park, allowing paragliding pilots to use the lift for free when carrying their pack sacks. The lift does not operate frequently, but when it does, pilots are permitted to ride it under the condition that they disembark at the mid-station (marked for jumpers only). Pilots can also get off at the top if there is staff present, but this is rare.
Pilots are recommended not to use this site during the growing season to avoid landing in the fields.
