Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in the Sogn og Fjordane region of Norway, this paragliding site is occasionally used and offers soaring opportunities with the possibility of cross-country flights. There are alternative takeoff points nearby, but this particular one is less frequented.
The site has an elevation of 235 meters and a height difference of 340 meters. The site record is 2.9 km, which you can view [here](http://no.flightlog.org/fl.html?l=2&a=22&country_id=160&start_id=544).
To reach the takeoff point, drive from Naustdal towards Stavang along the fjord for about 1.5 to 2 km until you see a sign for 'Kringla' on the right. Follow the road all the way up and park below the farm. You can start either under the mountain or in the pasture outside the farm. Despite being only 350 meters above sea level, it is a good spot for thermals.
Local rules to follow:
- Speak with the farmer if the ground is wet or the grass is tall.
- Park in the designated area (do not park in the turnaround spot).
- This is a challenging site because you need enough altitude to clear the tree line below the start. Conditions must be right to reach the landing area in Naustdal. If you can't reach this landing, you must land by the fjord on a small sloped field surrounded by trees and telephone lines, requiring at least a PP3/SP3 certification.
