Description
At an altitude of 1487 meters with a height difference of 847 meters, this site is one of the most frequented launch sites in the Alps. The main launch area is a vast meadow near the 'Bärenhütte,' right next to the mountain station. If you prefer, you can hike even higher.
This site is extremely popular, primarily known for its enjoyable thermal and soaring flights. There is ample space for launching, but it can get crowded on good weekends. The thermal conditions in the area are excellent, making it ideal for flying around. For experienced pilots, there are excellent cross-country opportunities for both paragliding and hang gliding.
Located in Tirol, Austria, the site record is an impressive 173.3 km. The region offers ideal conditions for both recreational and training flights, with hours of thermal and soaring flights being the norm. Safe launch and landing areas, along with perfect infrastructure, provide everything a pilot could wish for. After your flight, a cozy pilot bar right at the landing site ensures a pleasant end to your flying day.
The Unterberghorn in Kössen/Tirol is a legendary flying site, often compared to 'Wembley' for football. It has hosted various world championships and boasts the highest number of launches and landings in a single day. For a more relaxed experience, consider visiting on weekdays or outside the peak season.
