Description

This site, located in Breiscounty, Germany, is occasionally used and is exclusively for hang gliders. It is a medium-difficult site with a height of 262 meters and a height difference of 80 meters. The site is suitable for soaring, and occasionally cross-country flights are possible. It is a strong wind area, so only pilots with a 'B-Schein' license are allowed to fly here. There are seasonal restrictions, and it is crucial to follow the site regulations. There are two cliff launches: one facing WSW and a slightly flatter one facing SSW, both exclusively for hang gliders. The site offers a beautiful soaring ridge with consistent west winds, but the launch is very challenging. For more information, visit: [DFC Südschwarzwald](http://www.dfc-suedschwarzwald.de) Site Regulations: - Access is via the B 31 and only on designated access roads. Traffic signs must be observed. - Pilots must not enter the vine rows at the 'Upper Launch Site.' Please remind others of this rule. - Pilots must present a 'B-Schein' with cross-country flight authorization, a hang glider with cross-country identification, and valid insurance proof. Site orientation is provided by the site warden. - Paragliding is prohibited due to safety concerns. - Equipment (hang glider, harness, reserve parachute) must have visible certification marks. - A reserve parachute is mandatory despite the low flight height. - A variometer is the minimum required instrument. - The maximum number of pilots flying simultaneously is 4 at the south ridge and 6 at the west ridge for safety reasons. Risky maneuvers are strictly prohibited. - Landings on or near the B 31 are forbidden to avoid alarming drivers. - Respect the existing vegetation at the landing and launch sites to avoid conflicts with farmers. Report any damage to the site warden immediately. - Keep the launch and landing sites clean, even if the litter was not caused by you. - Suitable wind direction indicators must be installed at launch and landing sites. A first aid kit must be available. - Launches are only permitted when a flight director (launch assistant) is present to manage flight operations and initiate immediate measures in case of accidents. - There is an absolute flight ban during the grape ripening and harvest season (mid-September to end of November), including the 'Lower Launch Site.' Flying Tips for Tuniberg: - The Tuniberg site is only flown in strong winds (5m/s+), so caution is advised despite the 80-meter height difference. - When setting up the hang glider, be careful to avoid tipping backward, which could result in damage. - Discuss the launch procedure with the launch assistant. - At the edge, ensure both wings are equally exposed to the wind. Be cautious with multiple launch assistants at the wing tips. - During flight, keep the glider nose away from the slope. Newcomers should avoid full circles and opt for figure-eights instead. - The best lift area is in front of the slope as altitude increases. - The higher you fly above the ridge, the stronger the horizontal wind component becomes, so avoid drifting too far back to prevent encountering rotor turbulence. - Expect turbulence and increased sink rates in the terrain cut between the launch site and the chapel to the left. - During landing, be mindful of the wind gradient. In strong ground winds, do not fully flare the glider to avoid tipping over. For more details, visit: [DGFC Südschwarzwald](http://www.dgfc-suedschwarzwald.de)
