This launch site is primarily recommended for hang gliders. Accessible via the cable car from Mittenwald, it is no longer officially recognized, it seems.
Located in the Mittenwald region of Germany, the site record is 90.8 km. Be mindful of strong valley winds and the high alpine terrain. This is a launch site for hang gliders (Mittenwalder Drachenflieger) but is also approved for paragliders. It is situated right next to the cable car's mountain station.
For paragliders, the launch is challenging due to its steep, short (approximately 7-8 meters) and rocky nature. It is a cliff launch, with almost 1000 meters of open space immediately below. Wind conditions are difficult to assess.
Long-distance flights are possible but only recommended for fearless and very experienced pilots.
