Description
Heuberg, located at an elevation of 1310 meters with a height difference of 835 meters, is a hike-and-fly site in the Inntal region. The ascent to the Heuberg summit from Bichler Alm takes approximately 2 hours on foot. This site is occasionally used for thermal flying and cross-country (XC) flights.
Region: Nußdorf am Inn, Germany. The flight area record is 44.7 km. For more information, visit [Duschl Elektro Paragliding](http://www.duschl-elektro.de/paragliding/).
The launch site is a beautiful but somewhat steep grassy slope located a few steps south of the summit cross. When valley winds are active, the mountain is often overrun by east winds (Inntal suction) during the day. On such days, the 'Erler' wind in the Inntal subsides around 11 AM, and the 'Bavarian wind' sets in, providing the best chance for a thermal flight with smooth thermals. Heuberg offers stunning views.

The recommended launch time is between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM to avoid tailwinds. The ascent from Nußdorf takes about 2.5 hours, or 1.5 hours from the forest parking lot (note that car logistics can be challenging, requiring two vehicles).

Heuberg is significantly influenced by the Inntal wind system. Successful launches are most likely:
- In southwest conditions without föhn tendencies, as the föhn quickly becomes effective in the Inntal.
- Without east wind (ground wind) in the foothills, as the east wind often flows over the Samerberg, causing tailwinds at the launch site.
- Between late March and mid-May.
- Between 11:30 AM and 1 PM, when the valley wind system in the Inntal reverses, providing favorable thermal conditions.
Access: Inntalautobahn exit Brannenburg/Nußdorf.
Base village: Nußdorf am Inn.
Landing site: Mowed meadows (usually without a windsock) 500 meters east of the Nußdorf swimming pool.
The hike from Nußdorf via Bichleralm is about 800 meters in altitude and takes around 2 hours, offering a very appealing and often shaded steep ascent.
Thermals: Thermals often break up and are narrow, 250 meters further out at the terrain edge.
Difficulty: Turbulence in thermals due to the rugged terrain.
Cross-country flights: Possible with some specialized knowledge.
Heuberg is a beautiful mountain for paragliding year-round, with the best thermal flying conditions from late March to mid-May.
