Grubigstein, located in the Zugspitzarena, is a well-known paragliding site offering breathtaking views of the Zugspitze throughout your flight. The launch site can be reached from Grubigalm with a 15-minute walk. It is a natural launch site, rarely used, and situated in the lee during west winds.
Grubigstein is particularly suitable for cross-country flights, with early starts possible on good days. The site offers multiple launch points for different wind directions:
- **Gamsbödele (2,060m)**: Suitable for South, East, and North winds. Accessible via lift to the summit station. The west launch site is recommended only for experienced pilots. Other directions are beginner-friendly.
- **Schwarze Abfahrt (1,750m)**: Suitable for North, East, and light West winds. Easily reachable from Grubigalm in 5-10 minutes by following the footpath to Wolfratshauserhütte. This is a beginner-friendly launch site with additional options along the ski slope.
- **Wolfratshauserhütte (1,750m)**: Suitable for East, North, and South winds. Reachable from Grubigalm in 15-20 minutes via the footpath. This is also a beginner-friendly launch site.
The landing zone is located above the Grubigsteinbahn valley station, marked with poles and equipped with a windsock.
