Description
The Fürstenberg site is located within the satellite zone of the RMZ (Radio Mandatory Zone), which is a type of control zone from ground level to 1000 feet AGL. This zone is intended to manage incoming IFR traffic from the south. Entry into the RMZ is only permitted after notifying the flight control at EDTD (Donaueschingen, 126.690 MHz [8.33 kHz]).
Launching is only allowed in the presence of a club member and after a phone notification to EDTD. A briefing by a club member is mandatory. For more details, refer to the guest regulations or the notice board at the launch sites. Pilots must sign in the launch logbook.
The launch site is at an altitude of 860 meters above sea level, with a height difference of 120 meters. The launch direction ranges from northeast to northwest. It is a narrow corridor launch, so caution is advised in strong ground winds as the wind strength increases significantly with altitude.
When both north launch sites are in operation, coordination between the launch directors is required. Do not fly over the sheep herd.
Parking is available either at the south launch site parking lot, above the cemetery at the access road, or at the "Schächer" hiking parking lot. The rest of the way can be covered on foot in 5 to 10 minutes. It is crucial to adhere to the designated landing area (see the map sketch on site).
