Description
The paragliding site at Dreifaltigkeitsberg in Germany is frequently used by both hang gliders and paragliders. It offers good soaring conditions and the potential for cross-country flights. Guests are welcome, but only pilots with a full aviation license are allowed due to the proximity to the Klippeneck gliding area. Additionally, only pilots who are registered by name are permitted to fly here.
The site features a long ridge for soaring and often has good thermals. The current distance record is 187 km.
Safety is crucial at this site. When the wind comes from the east, it flows around the Dreifaltigkeitsberg from behind, which can create challenging conditions. Even with a pure south wind, part of the wind can flow around the mountain's southern tip, creating a complex wind pattern. This can result in the wind appearing to come from behind the launch site.
It is advised to avoid flying when there is any influence from the east wind, even if it is light. Pure south winds are also critical. However, flying is generally safe with southwest or west winds.
