Conditions Optimales
Description
Demaree is a north-facing paragliding site with an elevation of 2180 meters and a height difference of 520 meters. It offers evening soaring opportunities with two takeoff options: one from the road for north winds and another a few meters to the north on the ridge for northeast winds. This site is occasionally used for soaring flights.
The site is managed by the Western Slope Soaring Club. For more information, visit their [website](https://westernslopesoaring.com/demaree).
Description:
Demaree is a mountain drive-up site with a north-facing launch. It requires a minimum pilot rating of P3.
Driving Directions:
The site is located about 5 minutes north of the Stove turnoff. Take Douglas Pass road north from Loma until you reach the listed pin. Enter the gate (please close it behind you) and continue up the mountain road. The road is generally in good condition and easily passable by AWD vehicles. GPS coordinates for driving: 39°26'27.5"N 108°46'55.7"W.
Launching:
Launching is done from the road. No-wind launches are not advised. GPS coordinates for launch are not provided.
Landing Zone:
The landing area is a large grassy field at the base of the valley. It is private property, so please be respectful and do not block the gates. Do not park near the house next to the landing zone. An alternative landing zone is across the road in the main valley. GPS coordinates for the landing zone are not provided.
Site Briefing:
Demaree is one of the few drive-up north launches in the area. It has great soaring potential at sunrise and late evenings. XC pilots will find Demaree a great option when the local convergence dips south, making other launches unflyable. Locals avoid launching at Demaree midday during the summer months.
Access Notes:
Take the BLM road at coordinates 39.44098, -108.78213 up to the launch. Both the launch and landing zones are on BLM land. The south side of the road is designated as a wilderness area, where launching or landing is not allowed.
Flyable Conditions:
Check the Demaree Weather Station for current conditions: [Demaree Weather Station](https://www.pwsweather.com/station/mid/dmmc2/). Winds should be below 15 mph on launch. The aspect is North to Northeast.
