Description
The launch site is located just a few minutes' walk on a steep meadow to the left above the mountain station. This spot is frequently used for thermal soaring, and some light cross-country flying is possible.
To enjoy the sunset atmosphere, head to Brändlen above Wolfenschiessen. You can soar comfortably into the twilight. From 3 PM, the valley wind should be blowing up the mountain. However, launching can be challenging if the valley wind is too strong or if the combination of valley wind and embedded thermals pushes up the slope forcefully.
Region: Wolfenschiessen - Switzerland
Site record: 24.3 km

Wolfenschiessen is well-protected from Foehn influences and is located in the middle of the Engelberg Valley. The area is quickly and easily accessible. While the opposite training and examination site Büelen is crowded on Fridays and weekends, you will find yourself almost alone here.
Flying at the west-facing Brändlen usually starts in the afternoon, often combined with a 'bring flight' to the higher Haldigrat, a hotspot for insiders and experts of the Engelberg Valley.
Important: When flying north, be aware of the CTR Buochs! Also, watch out for numerous cables in the area.
Soaring conditions: After takeoff, turn left (watch out for cables) and climb (Haldigrat is the goal). However, most flight students simply glide into the valley.
