Paragliding Big Sur_Plaskett Knobett_lower, CA

The launch site at 484 meters (1600 feet) is an alternative and rarely used takeoff point, primarily for short sled rides. Located just south of the Plaskett Creek Campground, you can access it via Plaskett Creek Road / Plasket Ridge Road. You can either drive up with a 4WD vehicle to takeoff 2 or drive to the top of Plasket Ridge Road and hike down to takeoff 1. This site offers the opportunity to fly to the coast with some thermalling over coastal flats. However, be cautious of the wind conditions. If the wind was forecasted to be NNW but feels W at the launch, you might be experiencing a rotor from the ridge to the north.
