Description
The Mülkerblatte is located in Lenk, Simmental, Switzerland. The take-off point is on the Betelberg side, just below the Leiterli mountain station. The Leiterli gondola operates in summer, with a walking time of about 10 minutes. In winter, the Wallegg chairlift is recommended, as the northeast launch site is located behind the mountain station. This flying area is beautiful and offers some thermal spots even in winter.
In winter, downdrafts can be expected from midday, so it's advisable to switch to the Metsch side.
Walking time to the launch site is approximately 12 minutes. The Mülkerblatte launch site is next to the Wallegg chairlift, which operates only in winter.
Landing Zone 1: Lenk Rotebach at 1080 meters, medium difficulty.
Landing Zone 2: Lenk Lischmatte at 1070 meters, easy difficulty.
Public transport and mountain railways are available. The Stoss-Leiterli gondola operates in summer as well.
This is a good launch site to catch thermals in the morning. It's also an ideal winter launch site for 'Ski & Fly'.
Access: Take the gondola to Betelberg, then walk along the wide hiking trail to the Mülkerblatte chairlift station (about 10 minutes). In winter, you can take the chairlift directly to the launch site, but only with skis. A single ride on the gondola costs CHF 22.00 without a half-fare card. The paragliding day pass also costs CHF 22.00.
Wind direction: East to South (in the morning, you can also launch without problems in weak west wind conditions).
Landing Zone: Lischmatte in the village of Lenk. It's a large and easy landing zone. A windsock is located above the tennis court and on the landing zone itself. The landing zone is only active when a meadow is mowed. If no meadow is mowed, please land on another mowed meadow. Please also pay attention to the information board.
The launch site is a steep grassy slope at an altitude of 1936 meters. Coordinates: 7.41391621, 46.43473816. Walking time from the gondola station is about 10 minutes.
