This site is frequently used and is suitable for soaring. Cross-country (XC) flights are possible, with some easy XC routes available. Light north to north-northeast winds with thermals are ideal for distance flying. The recommended route is along the ridge to Kurztberri and back. Top landing is possible.

Region: Basque Country, Spain. The site record is 60.8 km, achieved at Monte Aloñamendi, located in Oñati (Guipuzcoa), with a north orientation.
General Description:
Aloña, also known as Gorogomendi, is located on the westernmost side of the Aitzgorri mountain range. The flight is primarily thermal ridge soaring. To the left, you will find the Kurtzebarri flight area. The chain of mountains Kurtzebarri-Orkatzategi-Aloña offers the most scenic flights in Debagoiena.
The area is situated near the famous climbing school of Araotz. The flight direction is mainly north to northwest. The altitude is 756 meters. The takeoff area can accommodate three to four paragliders.
To access the takeoff, take the road from Oñate to Aranzazu. Before reaching Aranzazu (about 1 or 2 km before), take an asphalt track on the left side of the road marked 'GOMIZTEGI'. Follow this road to reach a farm school with a barrier. A key is required to open the barrier; do not contact the farm. For transportation and/or key access, contact the local club at amillena.taldie@gmail.com. Transportation costs 10 Euros (for up to 5 people plus the driver). If it weren't for the barrier issue, the takeoff would be accessible by car.
