Description
Located in Castilla la Mancha, Spain, this paragliding site offers a takeoff altitude of 1143 meters with a height difference of approximately 200 meters. It is occasionally used for thermal soaring, and some cross-country (XC) flights are possible. The site record stands at 25.6 km.
The landing area is very spacious, but pilots need to be cautious of the wind shadow created by the wind turbines when ridge soaring.
To access the takeoff point, start from Alpera and head towards Casas Ibañez. Turn right towards La Hunde, then left towards Cueva de la Vieja. Ignore these directions at a wide curve and continue straight. At the next fork, turn right and follow a 6 km path. Look for a sign indicating 'Muela de Tortosilla,' turn right, and drive to the last wind turbine. Park there and follow the ridge to the right for less than 100 meters. There is no marked path, but you will find a space to lay out your paraglider.
Maximum elevation difference is 200 meters.
