The Top 20 Paragliding sites in Oman:

Fins

Paragliding map of
The launch site is approximately 830 meters above sea level and is considered difficult. The coordinates provided are approximate, so it's essential to consult local pilots for precise information. Note that paragliding in Oman is generally illegal for non-residents and often for residents as well. The terrain is extremely rough, with sharp, glider-unfriendly stones almost everywhere. Much time has been spent clearing take-off areas rather than flying. One coastal site has been developed near a town called Fins. The take-off point is accessible via a steep track and is situated at 2500 feet, facing the ocean about 4 km away. The take-off faces predominantly NNE, while the prevailing winds are generally from the east. Although it is possible to launch into an easterly wind and then turn out, this makes soaring very challenging. The NNE-facing cliff catches wind shadow from a north-south running bluff to the right of the take-off point, complicating the flight conditions. Flying here is hard work, but for those who are already in the area, it remains one of the few options available. Zighy Bay Musandam

Paragliding map of
The launch site is at an elevation of 290 meters and is considered easy to access. The launch area is flat and sandy, making it suitable for beginners. Despite its appearance on the map, this location is part of the Musandam area, which belongs to Oman. There is some flying activity in the area, as seen in these videos: [Video 1](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArWjDYvo89M&feature=player_embedded) [Video 2](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izA-CQeOXNM) A restaurant is conveniently located next to the launch site. However, be aware that flying is officially not allowed due to regulations and military presence, making it challenging to fly solo as a guest. It is highly recommended to consult with local pilots before attempting to fly. For those staying at the Zighy Bay Six Senses Luxury Resort, you have the option to hire a tandem pilot: [Tandem Flight Video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nioe2CaRkFo)

Mountains near Salalah

Paragliding map of
Flying in Oman requires caution as it is officially illegal, and you could face legal consequences. It is highly recommended to consult with local Omani pilots before planning any flights. The mountains near Salalah, located at the southeastern tip of Oman, are considered one of the best places to fly in the Middle East. Although I haven't flown there personally, there are reports of pilots reaching altitudes of 3000-4000 meters. For a visual experience, you can watch this video: [YouTube Video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIegr1jAESk) To check the weather conditions in Salalah, visit: [Weather Forecast](http://www.usairnet.com/weather/forecast/international/city/oman/salalah/)
