Перевал Pereval south west Armani Pass
Located in the Magadan region of Russia, the Armani Pass offers a variety of takeoff options suitable for different wind directions, except for east winds. The site is situated approximately 19 km from the city of Magadan, with an elevation of 600 meters above sea level and a relative height of 100-200 meters above the surrounding terrain. The area features a mix of dirt roads, small stones, and sparse vegetation.
The Armani Pass has multiple takeoff points:
1. **Left Hill (North Wind)**: The starting height is 25 meters from the pass and parking lot. The flight zone extends 300 meters in length and 100 meters in width. With favorable conditions, you can fly towards Oksy. Landing is possible near the parking lot or on the road. Be cautious of rootlets, bushes, stones, and wires, especially in winter. Avoid flying with east-north-east winds due to turbulent conditions.
2. **Right Hill**: The absolute height above sea level is 600 meters, with surrounding peaks rising 200-300 meters higher. The nearby valleys are 100-200 meters below. The distance to the sea is less than 10 km. Maximum altitudes in the area can reach 1600-1700 meters, though typically the base is lower, around 1000 meters. The main takeoff point is 80 meters above the bench, accommodating 2-3 wings. Landing options include the pass, road, or flight towards Oksy or the Shashlychnoye Valley. Another takeoff point is 120 meters above the pass, suitable for weak winds. Under favorable conditions, you can also start from the parking lot or the monument. Be aware of high-voltage power lines and strong SW winds, which make flights dangerous.
3. **South, South-West**: The southeastern start is cleared for one paraglider, with a launch height of 120-150 meters from the pass and 300-500 meters from the valley bottom. Landing options include a country road, the main road, or the quarry in the Shashlychnaya Valley. In summer, expect bushes and stones at the start, while in winter, the area is often covered in snow. Pay special attention to power lines crossing the road in two places.
