Caye Caulker

Infos: Huge 'crystal' lagoon. Flat water in the lagoon. West lagoon: real glassy spot but offshore wind. East lagoon: flat water with a sideon or onshore wind. It's shallow (1-3 feet) water until 300m from the shore, so kite beginner could launch in the water. Between the islands the current is opposite to the wind depending on the tides. It give you extra power for the jumps.

Infos: Small, sandy beach on east side. The best place for riding is at the split.

Weather specificities: Water 25-30C, air 25-30C. No wetsuit. Dec to Feb shorty 2mm for longer sessions.

Wind specificities: Best wind in February and June. The wind mostly comes from NE to SE. The average wind speed in winter and spring (Dec to June) is 15-18 knots, up to 20+ in the mornings and in the summer from 10-16 knots. Fall not very windy but still some windy days.

Access description: by Boat - Fly to Cancun, and then you have small airplanes, taxi or bus. Or fly to Belize City and then 45min water-taxi to Caye Caulker.

Infos: A barrier reef 3/4 miles east of the island creates shallow flat water between the reef and the island. West of the island loads sandbars and undiscovered flat water. Couple of good reef breaks in the channels on the reef, can get up to 6-8ft faces. Not much tide. Many foot bridges and anchored boats.

Infos: Small tight launches in town. More open north of town. Sandy beaches. Sandy beach and islands on the west side of the island.

You can get out in any direction but only boat access to the lagoon side. The season is during dry season from January to April.
