From Munich drive towards Salzburg and take the exit Holzkirchen, drive to Tegernsee, Achenpa or Bad Toelz, then over the border to Achenkirch and then along the lake towards Maurach. This launch is about 2km before Maurach.

A lycra shirt can be recommended on windy days though because of the wind chill factor. Throughout the season a short wetsuit is recommended and normal long wetsuit can be needed due to the sudden temperature fluctuations. Off-season a 5mm wetsuit is needed. Surfers can be seen until mid November. As the lake is very shallow the water temperature is changing very fast. So you should always bring a long wetsuit with you. March to April: air 5-18C, water 5-13C. May: could be anything. June to August: air 15-35C, water 15-25C. September to October: air 5-18C, water 5-13C.

Infos: There is a lawn providing enough space to pump up your kite. The small gravel beach can be used for launching. There are many obstacles downwind the launch area, so be careful. The wind is not gusty, so it looks worse than it is. You should be experienced enough to go upwind otherwise you will end up in the bay west to the beach with a long walk back. There is no path on the beach.
