Waterwheels - Augusta Waterwheels features a powerful left-breaking reef wave, characterized by hollow and fast sections over a sharp rocky bottom. Located approximately 50-60 meters offshore, surfers should look for the white rock as the takeoff spot. The wave is best surfed at all tides, with optimal conditions occurring during east to northeast winds and swells from the west or southwest. Accessing Waterwheels is straightforward; from Augusta, continue on the highway until reaching the lighthouse, then turn right onto Waterwheel Road. The walk from the parking area is less than 5 minutes. This spot is known for its emptiness during the week and weekends, making it an ideal choice for those seeking solitude. However, surfers should remain vigilant of potential dangers, including rips, sharp rocks, and the occasional shark sighting.
