The Groin - Noosa Heads The Groin is a right-hand beach break with a sandy bottom, known for its ledgey power. This spot works at all tides, particularly favoring a falling tide, and is best with southeast winds and swells from the east or northeast. Located at Noosa's first point, access is easy, either by walking along the beach or through the park at Hastings Street. The wave can become intense, especially over 2 meters, making it a thrilling ride for experienced surfers. While the atmosphere is generally enjoyable, caution is advised due to the nearby rock wall, particularly at low tide. Surfers should take off to the left of the rocks to avoid hazards and maximize their ride. Despite being relatively empty during the week, expect ultra-crowded conditions on weekends, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.
