Surf Ray Bay

Ray Bay - Seal Beach Ray Bay, located at the mouth of the San Gabriel River, features a rivermouth wave with both right and left breaks over a sandy bottom. Known for its hollow and fast waves, it works best at low and mid tide, particularly during rising tides. The spot is accessible with instant access and offers a mix of fun conditions, especially in the morning. This local secret, also referred to as Power Plant or the River, can produce impressive overhead tubes during El Niño swells, attracting surfers from nearby Huntington Beach. The area includes three breaks: Crabs, Middles, and North Wall, with the center peak offering long rides up to 150 meters on good days. While weekdays see fewer surfers, weekends can become crowded with beginners. Caution is advised due to rips and the presence of stingrays and sand sharks in the warmer waters.
