Point Cartwright (the rock) - Mooloolaba Point Cartwright features a right-hand point break over a sharp coral reef, delivering hollow, fast, and powerful waves. The spot works best at mid to high tide, particularly during falling tide, with optimal swell from the north to east. It can handle swells from 2 to over 5 feet, becoming increasingly hollow with size. Located at the northern end of Mooloolaba, Point Cartwright is a scenic surf destination known for its reliable waves and picturesque headland. The area is well-protected from southern winds, making it a popular choice for surfers. Access is straightforward, with parking available at La Balsa Park or the surf lookout car park, followed by a short walk to the groyne. Be mindful of localism and potential hazards like rocks and boat traffic, especially when crossing from town. The beach is netted, ensuring safety from sharks since 1959, making it a fun and consistent spot for experienced surfers.
