Surf Pipes & Turbos

Pipes & Turbos - Palos Verdes Estates Pipes is a left-breaking reef wave characterized by hollow, fast, and powerful conditions over a rocky coral bottom. Located in Palos Verdes Estates, it is accessible via a short 5-15 minute walk from Paseo Del Mar, situated between Indicator and Lunada Bay. The wave works best at mid to high tide, particularly during rising and falling tides. This surf spot is known for its challenging and localized conditions, making it suitable for expert surfers. The waves can start breaking at around 0.9 meters and are best surfed during winter when northwest swells are prevalent. While the crowd is generally sparse on weekdays, weekends may see a few surfers. Caution is advised due to potential hazards such as urchins, sharp rocks, and localism. Timing is crucial, as extreme tides can lead to bumpy surf or shallow, rocky conditions.
