Surf Mondos

Mondos - Ventura, California Mondos features a sandbar wave that breaks both right and left over a sandy bottom with some rocks. This spot is renowned for its consistent, rolling waves, making it ideal for beginners and a relaxing option for more advanced surfers. The best conditions occur at mid tide with rising and falling tides, and it typically sees few surfers during the week but becomes ultra crowded on weekends. Located just north of Ventura, access is straightforward with parking available nearby. The waves here range from waist to head-high (0.6 to 1.5 meters), and the spot picks up swells from various directions, making it rideable year-round, especially from October to February. While the atmosphere is laid-back, be cautious of the strong currents and the rocky entry. With two chemical toilets available, Mondos is well-equipped for a day of surfing, though the proximity to the railroad tracks requires attention while crossing the road to the beach.
