Description
Lowlands Beach - Western Australia
Lowlands Beach features a sandbar wave breaking both right and left over a bottom of flat rocks and sand. This spot is known for its consistent banks, especially when other nearby locations are closing out. The waves can be powerful and ledgey, making it suitable for experienced surfers.
Accessing Lowlands Beach involves a short hike (5-15 minutes) from the car park after driving west from Albany along Lower Denmark Road. The atmosphere is relaxed, typical of the south coast, but surfers should remain vigilant of currents that can pull them towards the rocks. The spot works best with swells from the southwest, south, and southeast, and winds from the north and its variations. While the beach is generally uncrowded during the week and weekends, surfers should be cautious of potential dangers such as rips, rocks, and sharks.
