Surf Jacks Point

Jacks Point - Timaru, New Zealand Jacks Point features a powerful, hollow right-hand reef break over a boulder bottom. This spot is accessible via a short walk (<5 min) after turning off Scarborough Road while driving south through Timaru. It works best at mid to high tide with rising tide conditions, and is influenced by south to southeast swells and west winds. While the wave offers an exhilarating ride, surfers should be cautious of localism, as a notorious local often patrols the area with his dogs. Additionally, the presence of a great white shark colony adds to the spot's sketchy reputation. Surfers must also navigate through heavy bull kelp that can entangle legs and leashes.
