Escalera - Cotillo, Fuerteventura Escalera is a powerful beach break featuring both right and left waves over a sandy bottom interspersed with rocks. This spot is known for its fickle conditions, breaking daily but offering only about 10 exceptional days per year. It thrives with a moderate swell and an incoming tide, while larger swells or outgoing tides lead to closeouts. Accessing Escalera requires a short walk after a steep descent via a low-quality concrete staircase, so proper footwear is essential. Located just 5 minutes from Cotillo Beach, it provides a unique atmosphere, often frequented by local bodyboarders like "El Mannu." The wave is best enjoyed when the conditions align, making it a solid alternative to Cotillo on smaller days. Be cautious of rips and rocks, and remember to enjoy the local wildlife while soaking in the surf vibes.
