Cylinder - North Stradbroke Island
Cylinder is a right-hand point break with a sandy bottom, known for its hollow waves. The ideal conditions include an east swell and south winds, working best at low and mid tides during a falling tide. The wave can produce rides of up to 200 meters, particularly from the corner of Cylinder Headland.
Located on North Stradbroke Island, a 50-minute barge trip from Brisbane, Cylinder offers a short walk (5-15 minutes) to access the surf. The wave breaks in several sections, starting from Deadmans Beach to Home Beach, with a notable barrel section in front of the headland. While the spot is generally uncrowded during the week, expect a few surfers on weekends. Be cautious of rips, localism, and sharks, as locals are protective of their waves and may respond to drop-ins.
