Surf Crashboats

Crashboats - Puerto Rico Crashboats features a right-breaking wave over a sandy reef bottom, shaped by remnants of old navy docks. The wave is known for its hollow, fast, and powerful characteristics, making it suitable for both bodyboarding and surfing. It works best at low and mid tide, with optimal conditions during rising and falling tides, particularly when the swell comes from the north or northwest. Located on the south side of a jetty, accessing Crashboats is straightforward, with signs along Route 107. The spot can get crowded, especially on weekends, and local bodyboarders may exhibit aggressive behavior, so respect in the water is crucial. While the waves can be fun, they can also be unpredictable, often becoming a novelty unless solid northwest swells are present. The best time to surf is late summer and fall for tropical swells, and more consistently from late fall through early spring. Be mindful of the beach environment, as litter can be an issue.
